From

Why this tour

  • Four days trekking the quiet side of the Accursed Mountains — Valbona, Çerem, Dobërdol, Sylbicë
  • A night in a high mountain hut on the Sylbicë pastures
  • Prizren's Ottoman old town on the way into the Alps
  • The fjord-like Lake Koman ferry crossing
  • Krujë castle and bazaar, plus a Tirana city tour to finish
  • Away from the crowded Valbona–Theth trail

Day by day

Day 01 ·
Arrive in Tirana and transfer to Rubik
dinner

Meet your guide at Tirana airport and drive north to Rubik, above the Fan river valley, for a welcome dinner and the trek briefing. Overnight: countryside guesthouse near Rubik.

Day 02 ·
Into the Alps via Prizren — transfer to Valbona and first walk
Breakfast, dinner

Cross into Kosovo for a walking visit of Prizren's Ottoman old town — the stone bridge, mosques and churches of three faiths side by side — then re-enter Albania and climb the road into the Valbona valley. In the afternoon, a gentle 2–3 hour leg-stretcher along the river. Passport required for the border crossings. Overnight: family-run guesthouse in the Valbona valley.

Day 03 ·
Valbona: day hike to Stani i Ramës
Breakfast, lunch, dinner

A full-day out-and-back from the valley floor to the high shepherd station of Stani i Ramës, with the limestone faces of the Accursed Mountains rising on every side. Picnic on the meadows and time to rest tired legs by the Valbona river on return. About 4–5 hours walking. Overnight: same guesthouse in Valbona.

Day 04 ·
Valbona to Çerem, trek to the Dobërdol pastures (1,900 m)
Breakfast, lunch, dinner

A short 4x4 transfer up the rough road to the village of Çerem, then on foot through the Koshutica and Vranica alpine pastures to the summer settlement of Dobërdol, close to the triple border. About 4–5 hours walking; your luggage travels ahead. Overnight: mountain guesthouse in the Dobërdol pastures.

Day 05 ·
Dobërdol to the Sylbicë pastures
Breakfast, lunch, dinner

Open ridge-and-pasture country all day — arguably the loneliest corner of the Albanian Alps — to the summer pastures of Sylbicë at around 1,800 m. Dinner and a night in a simple mountain hut under a very big sky. About 5 hours walking. Overnight: mountain hut on the Sylbicë pastures.

Day 06 ·
Descend from Sylbicë to Tropojë, transfer to Bajram Curri
Breakfast, lunch, dinner

A long, beautiful descent following the Tropoja river from the pastures down to Tropojë village, where the minibus waits for the short drive to Bajram Curri. About 5–6 hours walking, almost all downhill. Overnight: small hotel in Bajram Curri.

Day 07 ·
Lake Koman ferry and on to Krujë
Breakfast, lunch

An early transfer to Fierza for the morning ferry through the fjord-like gorges of Lake Koman — one of Europe's great boat rides — then drive south to Krujë, the town of Skanderbeg, beneath the Sari Salltik massif. Picnic lunch on the way. Overnight: traditional hotel by Krujë's old bazaar.

Day 08 ·
Krujë, Tirana city tour and departure
Breakfast

Morning visit to Krujë castle, the Skanderbeg museum and the old bazaar, then continue to Tirana for a short city tour and free time before your airport transfer.

Accessibility & physical requirements

This is a mountain walking tour and requires a moderate level of fitness. Routes include natural trails, uneven and rocky terrain, and significant elevation gain and loss.

Please note

Due to the mountainous terrain, this tour is not suitable for wheelchair users or people with limited mobility.

We recommend

  • Sturdy walking boots with ankle support and good grip
  • Comfort walking on hills, loose stone and uneven paths for several hours
  • Water and sun protection — shade is limited on the higher sections
  • Trekking poles, which many walkers find make the descents easier

If you or anyone in your group has specific accessibility needs, tell us before you book. We will give you an honest answer about what this tour can accommodate — including saying so when the answer is that it can't.
