Our Jeep Safari tour in the Karavasta Lagoon is one to not miss. The tour starts in the National park of Divjake with an off-road excursion through the pines to the sands of the beach. The National Park of Divjaka-Karavasta is the largest non-coastal park in Albania. It’s a park rich in Flora and Fauna. Its first and the only inhabitants are the animals, or better say the waterfowls.
Moreover, during our visit to the Karavasta Lagoon, we hope to have a sighting of the rare Dalmatian pelican.
A one-hour drive takes us through Divjake to the Karavasta Lagoon. Also, the largest and most beautiful off-shore wetland on the Albanian coast of the Adriatic Sea. Moreover, the drive along the sandy belt between the Karavasta and Godulla Lagoons in the southern part of the Divjaka National Park is fascinating and full of surprises.
Three channels connect the two lagoons where brackish water habitats and small sandy islands can be studied.
The lagoon is famous for the rare Dalmatian pelican which has nesting grounds there. 6.4% of Europe’s population of this type of pelican is found in this lagoon.
