The High Scardus Trail
The name originate from an old roman road built during the 2nd century BC which would connect the regions of nowadays North Macedonia and Kosovo.
The High Scardus Trail connects the border zone areas of Albania, Kosovo and Montenegro into one regional trail which stretches for about 495 km. This is an exiting new trail developed by GIZ on behalf of the German Government from 2017 onward.
The project aims to bring awareness and sustainable development of the area through the development of a network of trails well marked which in turn will facilitate traveller’s navigation and information whilst in the area.
The hiking trail meanders through six national parks which are an amazing ecosystem for the wild life and while in the region you can climb some of the highest peaks in Albania and Macedonia.
