About this tour

In this bike tour towards the Cape of Rodon. Cape of Rodon is in Durres, and it is a small cape in the sea that offers beautiful views of the bluest watercolors and also beautiful sunset colors.

We leave Tirana by car and drive towards Maminas which is 22 km away from Tirana. Maminas is a small village in Durres County with a lot of green vegetation and small farms.

From there starts our journey by bike.

We bike from Maminas to Cape of Rodon.

Cape of Rodon is a rocky beautiful cape in Durres, Albania.

On top of the cape is the Rodon Castle built by national Albanian Hero Scanderbeg which you can see in this bike tour.

The Castle of Scanderbeg, Albania’s national hero that led the Albanian army against the Ottomans from 1443-1468. In addition, the cape and its castle offer a wonderful landscape filled with small beaches and surrounded by wild vegetation. Scanderbeg started to build this castle during 1451-1452.

Cape of Rodon Bike Tour in Kruja

Afterward, we start to cycle in the direction of Kruja where the Castle of National Hero Scanderbeg nestles.

Kruja Castle was built in the 5th and 6th centuries A.D. Charles I of Anjou rebuilt the walls in the 13th century and the Turks rebuilt them again some centuries later. In 1617 an earthquake caused great damage to the walls, after which they were reinforced with 9 towers. The highest and most well-defended part of the fortress is a clock tower. It used to serve as an observation platform during times of war.
