This 8 Days cycling in Albania tour, explores Albania’s culture, culinary traditions. It also explores the impressive landscape of the Alps. Cycle along interesting villages around Tirana and taste the local Kokomani wine. Then take a boat tour through Koman Lake. Sleep in guesthouses and experience the local hospitality of Northern Albania. We will also have 1 day of walking from Valbona to Theth. There we will experience an impressive panorama of the Albanian Alps.

The cycling in Albania tour starts with a visit to the historical center of Tirana, Ethem Beu Mosque, Toptan’s castle, ex-residential area Block, etc.

And the cycling begins around the villages of Tirana enjoying the scenery. We will have a short break in the “Kokomani” winery, the agro-touristic center Agro-Milli in Gjepalaj, and Hajdar Kuqi Farm in Marikaj. After lunch, we load our bicycles and drive to Kruja where we will visit the castle, Scanderbeg museum, and the old bazaar. In the afternoon we arrive in Katund I Vjeter (Old Village) in Rubik.

It proceeds with driving to the city of Kukës. We reach the city in about 1hr 20 min. From there we start cycling on a secondary road toward the city of Gjakova in Kosovo. From Kukes to Gjakova is about 60 Km so we might need about 3-4 hours to reach Gjakova. Near the city of Has, Albania we have organized a picnic lunch (Sondor Travel). In the afternoon of this day, we reach Gjakova.

Cycling in Albania and Kosovo

We start cycling toward to visit Visoki Deçani this 14-century Monastery (UNESCO) built by the Serbian King Stefan Urosh III. It is one of the biggest monasteries in the Balkan with an active monastic life. After our visit to the monastery, we head to the Albanian border passing through the panoramic route of Junik, Botushë, Kosharë. For about 500 m we will pass through the forest into the Albanian territory and continue cycling to the village of Padesh for lunch. After lunch, we take the bicycles and descent down to the village of Tropojë where will be accommodated in Aste Guesthouse.

The cycling to Albania tour takes you toward the National Park of Valbone through this itinerary Tropoje – Cernice – Shoshan – Dragobi – Valbone. On the way, we will make short breaks in Klysyre, Dragobiand Xhema lake, etc.

We cycle in the graveled road to Cerem Village where we will meet with local farmers and experience the local hospitality. After lunch in Cerem, we head back to Valbonë. During tonight’s dinner, we have invited a folk group to perform for us (for 5 pax and up).

We also travel to Fierza to take a boat tour through Koman Lake. In the lake have been built 3 hydroelectric power plants, which produce about 70 % of Albania’s electric needs. The boat ride is long with the most beautiful boat rides in Europe.

When we reach the other side of the lake we resume cycling all the way to the city of Shkodër. In the afternoon we visit the center of Shkoder and Rozafa Castle.
